WEEKLONG SUMMER WRITING CAMP
Dates: June 24th-28th, August 12th-16th
Students will spend five days learning about the craft of creative writing and bringing a single project from idea all the way to publication. They will learn the elements of a good work of fiction or history--character, mood, setting, and conflict. Students will study the elements of good prose--irony, description, tone, and word-choice, etc.
Dates: June 17th - 21st, August 5th -9th
The course is designed to help students improve an indispensable writing skill: whether they are writing up a lab report, an essay, the personal-statement-portion of a school application, or, simply a private journal entry. The students will learn how to get through the planning-stage of any project with minimal procrastination and self-doubt and how to shape our sentences and paragraphs for both beauty and strength.
In both courses, students will learn how to edit, in particular, how to respectfully and effectively edit the works of their peers and receive edits from their peers.
