Public Speaking & Debate Full Day Summer Camp

Full-Day In-Person Public Speaking Camp Age 9-13

9:30 am-3:00 pm EDT August 16-20

This camp is designed to equip students with fundamental public speaking skills. We will follow the Aristotelian model of communication and cover all of the basics laid out by the famous Greek rhetorician, from mastering speech delivery in all its forms to structuring arguments that will captivate and persuade audiences. Full-Day In-person Debate Camp Age 10-14

9:30 am-3:30 pm EDT August 23-27

For students of all levels. Students will be grouped according to past debate experience.

In-person camp will be held at LeapUp Manhattan Upper East Side location at 1751 2nd Avenue, New York, NY.

Health Form required for in-person camps in addition to online registration.

Full-Day Online Debate Camp Grade 6-8 

10 am- 3 pm EDT (45 minutes lunch break)

Rookie Camp: 

For students with less than one year of debate experience

Students will learn and practice basic skills like flowing arguments and writing contentions, rebuttals, organizing and expressing ideas clearly, speaking confidently in public, listening critically and cooperatively. 

• Session 1 –  July 12-16 Public Forum and Spontaneous Argument

• Session 2 – July 19-23 Public Forum and Lincoln-Douglass

• Session 3 – Aug 9-13  Public Forum and Model UN

JV Camp: 

For current LeapUp debate team students or students who took at least one year of debate class. 

In this weeklong intensive course, students will enhance research abilities and learn intermediate to advanced debate skills like weighing arguments and flipping cases as we dive deeper into the debate world. 

• Session 1 – June 28-July 2 Public Forum and Spontaneous Argument

• Session 2 July 26-30 Public Forum and Lincoln-Douglass

• Session 3 August 2- 6 Public Forum and Model UN
